About me

Hi. I’m Elizabeth Ashford.

I’m a software engineer and open-source consultant based in Seattle. I mostly work on systems software, Linux, embedded systems, networking, and the weird bits where software meets hardware.

I’ve been programming for most of my life, and professionally for long enough to have opinions about build systems. I work primarily in Rust, C, C++, and Python, and I’m especially fond of projects involving low-level systems, protocols, hardware, and making complicated things considerably less complicated.

Outside of paid work, I’m a maker and general-purpose technology goblin. I build electronics, write open-source software, run unnecessary infrastructure, cook things, and occasionally undertake projects whose primary justification is “I wanted to know if this would work.”

This site is where I keep my projects, writing, experiments, and other assorted shenanigans.

If you’d like to hire me, see my consulting page.
